T&O Travels 2026

Jun 07, 2026Margot Zigmont

We have a number of expert travelers on the team at T&O, but for Nikki, it’s a favorite way to spend time.  She lived all over the world before deciding to settle in Summit, NJ with her family, and exploring is still a part of her love language.

On a recent slow day I prompted her - could she come up with a photo shoot concept for our weekly shoot with Jenny?  (There wasn't much newness and we like to stay busy.) Nikki settled into an organized yet expressive state,  creating a framework of a Travel Wardrobe with specific components: 4 stops, 3 bottoms, 2 dresses, 2 shoes, 1 bag, 1 pair of sunnies, 1 layer.

True to T&O form, her goal was for the edit to be as versatile as you can possibly imagine, with the ability to layer or mix & match as much as possible.

We put our heads together and came up with 3 vibes - not meant to be a formula for anyone in particular, but to illustrate the flexibility and function in Nikki’s formula.

Nikki takes us to the Mediterranean - she’s headed to Greece this summer.  I opted for a Northern European vacation: Berlin is on my list.  Last we travel in color - embracing our devil-may-care attitude of mixing colors in our outfits.

Mediterranean Muse

There is something about a Mediterranean summer that invites a different approach to dressing. The days unfold slowly, plans change on a whim, and your wardrobe needs to move effortlessly from a morning market stroll to a late dinner overlooking the water. Nikki built this capsule around that spirit of easy versatility: sun-washed blues, sea-glass greens, soft neutrals, and pieces that can be mixed, layered, tied, wrapped, and reimagined throughout a trip.

At the heart of the collection is a palette inspired by the coast itself. Breezy blues echo whitewashed villages and endless skies, while soft aqua prints feel pulled directly from the Mediterranean Sea. The beauty of the edit is how each piece works overtime. A scarf becomes a skirt, a top, or a belt. A relaxed button-down layers over dresses, pairs with shorts, or ties at the waist for dinner. The same sandals and bag travel seamlessly from sightseeing to sunset cocktails, proving that thoughtful packing doesn't mean sacrificing style.

What makes this wardrobe feel especially suited to destinations like Greece, the Amalfi Coast, or Mallorca is its sense of effortless sophistication. Nothing feels fussy, yet every combination looks intentional. The result is a suitcase filled with possibility: enough options to create distinct outfits every day, while still leaving room for the treasures you inevitably bring home. After all, the best travel wardrobes don't just take you somewhere beautiful—they leave space for a little spontaneity along the way.

Paris, Copenhagen, Berlin

While Nikki dreams in shades of Mediterranean blue, my travel style is decidedly urban. I love cities that invite wandering—where an afternoon can disappear inside a museum, a bookstore, or a beautifully designed café. This capsule was inspired by destinations like Paris, Copenhagen, and Berlin: places where art, architecture, fashion, and everyday life blend together in endlessly interesting ways. Berlin, especially, is on my list, and I found myself imagining exactly what I'd want to wear while exploring its galleries, neighborhoods, and creative energy.

The foundation is a palette of inky navy, black, crisp white, and denim, punctuated by a graphic print that feels equal parts artistic and playful. The silhouettes are clean and architectural without feeling severe—easy trousers, relaxed denim, fluid skirts, and dresses that can shift effortlessly from daytime sightseeing to dinner reservations. Like the cities that inspired it, the wardrobe feels thoughtful rather than fussy, with every piece earning its place through versatility and ease.

What I love most about this edit is its quiet confidence. The pieces are comfortable enough for a full day on foot but polished enough that you never feel underdressed. Everything mixes and layers naturally, creating a travel wardrobe that feels collected rather than calculated. Whether you're standing in front of a Rothko, cycling through Copenhagen, or spending an afternoon discovering Berlin's hidden corners, these are the kinds of clothes that let the destination take center stage.

I Travel in Color

The first two capsules began with a destination. This one begins with a point of view. Inspired by our ongoing exploration of Color Anarchy, this wardrobe embraces the idea that getting dressed should feel playful, personal, and a little unexpected. Rather than following traditional rules about matching or coordinating, the pieces invite experimentation—mixing saturated colors, combining prints, and discovering combinations that feel joyful simply because they do.

In many ways, this capsule is the purest expression of Nikki's travel formula. Every piece has multiple lives. A blouse becomes a layer over a dress. A dress becomes a skirt. Prints mingle with stripes, bright pink accessories play against vivid blues, and a simple white foundation suddenly feels anything but basic. The exercise wasn't simply to create colorful outfits—it was to demonstrate how much possibility can exist within a carefully chosen collection of pieces. When each item can be styled three, four, or five different ways, packing becomes less about limitations and more about creativity.

Perhaps that's the real lesson behind all three wardrobes. The goal isn't to pack for a specific destination or to follow someone else's formula perfectly. It's to build a collection of pieces that work hard, travel well, and leave room for self-expression. Whether you're wandering through a seaside village, exploring a museum district, or simply heading out for dinner, a thoughtful wardrobe creates freedom. And sometimes the most memorable souvenirs aren't the things you bring home—they're the outfits you never would have thought to wear until you gave yourself permission to play.
