Our second delivery from Daily Blue arrived at T&O, which I’m pretty thrilled about - and I’m also taking stock of our denim situation at the shop. I’m excited to have this brand at tea & oranges. I’ve been thoughtfully wearing and testing the few styles we ordered for spring so I can weigh in on comfort, wearability and the likes.
(love the attention to detail in this hickory stripe Mantra!)
Adriano Goldschmied resurrected his first denim brand Daily Blue for Spring 2023 and we brought in a few styles to get started with the brand - I’ve been wearing them consistently a ton to really get a sense of comfort, wearability & performance. Overall, it’s a beautiful pair of jeans - gorgeous fabrics and a ton of attention to fit and detail. When you add in the backstory of Goldschmied’s legacy (he is a true denim guru), this is a perfect fit for the type of brand I love to have at T&O.
My two staple styles from the spring delivery are Mantra (a wide leg barrel style) and Hype (cropped with a relaxed but slim fit). Hype was instantly wearable. We have a few left in this denim - white is on the way!
(above, all the ways I wear the Mantra style)
Meanwhile Mantra was a slow build. I struggled with the length & light wash during throughout the end of winter and our cool spring. With the arrival of two new washes (a soft rigid white denim and a hickory stripe) and some warmer weather, Mantra and I have a uniquely committed relationship. It’s my tomboy denim go-to. I’ve been wearing it with a slim sneaker, a short heel and a flat sandal with ease. Nikki just tight rolled my pair and it blew my mind. I haven’t done that since 4th grade but I’m going back there again.
Easy on the left, Tephy on the right
There’s two other new styles in this delivery, a super cute denim skirt that is already almost gone and a long wide leg style that’s made of a very soft, lightweight denim. Our Hype in the Sirocco white denim is due in any day… White skinny jeans traumatized me for years, and this beautiful, soft white denim is helping me overcome my fear of white jeans.
Looking over our denim situation at the shop, I thought these new arrivals were a good time for us to recap our other denim favorites.
Frank & Eileen’s Cork
Cork in natural (left) and everyday blue (right)
Slim but not skinny, soft with a bit of stretch, this is a great style for anyone who’s struggling to step away from the skinny jean but wants to try. This style has been a steady favorite since the beginning of the year - there's some secret sauce in this denim that makes it look like it fits every wearer like a glove. The Natural color is an alternative to white jeans or even khaki pants, and the Everyday Blue color is a great shade for spring & summer.
Also of note, Frank & Eileen's Wicklow in their dream denim - we have just a few left, but this is a different way to do denim and rivet-free (so ok for country clubs)!
Le Jean’s Bella Crop
Bella in Libertine (left) and white (right) - and we have 3 other colors, we love it that much
Super stretchy and soft, customers come in saying “I am ready for another pair of my most comfortable jeans.” Midrise with a crop flare, it’s a great choice for gals of average height or less. I did not size up in the white version of this jean (which we recently restocked). The Libertine color is my favorite true-blue color of all my jeans. If I was stranded on a desert island and could only have one pair of jeans, it would be my Bella Crop in Libertine - they are that versatile and comfortable.
Also of note: Le Jean's Stevie Slim BF. It's exactly as described (a slim boyfriend style) and it's made of a REALLLLY soft, stretchy denim, so when I wear them I typically don't take them off until bedtime - usually unheard of on denim days. Two washes in the shop, Lush (part of their core) and Rocco (a few left and on sale).
And don't overlook Virginia - this high rise, wide leg style is also made of a super soft/stretchy denim and is very comfy - something we don't always get from this cut.
Frank & Eileen’s Mary & Rory
Rory on the left, Mary on the right. Mary is also available in Vintage Stonewash Indigo
I know, these aren’t jeans, but these styles are an indispensable part of our spring & summer wardrobes. Frank & Eileen’s shirting denim is one of my all time favorite fabrics. It goes through the washer & dryer impervious to wrinkles. These are great dresses for travel, can be dressed up & down with ease. For me, the Mary is ideal to throw over a bathing suit for a bike ride to the beach. Rory looks just as chic with sneakers or K. Jacques as it does with some heels.
Ireland Playsuit
Another not-jeans denim situation, this short jumpsuit is made of Frank & Eileen’s “dream denim” which means it stretches in a million different directions and is therefore comfy beyond belief.
