November is around the corner, the holidays are upon us, I think it’s time we do a throughout round up of Thanksgiving Pants. If you’re new here, we’re talking about pants that are unthinkably comfortable, that look polished enough for a nice dinner with loved ones. Let’s be really specific though - to be Thanksgiving pants we need to meet the following standards:
- They’re made by Raffaello Rossi, our German engineers of great-fitting pants
- They’re pull-on and they have an\ stretchy waistband.
- They have to be decent enough to wear to somewhat lovely dinner - think country club appropriate or the likes
- They’re washable, because what if you spill some gravy on them?
Raffaello Rossi has been a part of our story since day one. They are our most-trusted pant people and feel too good to be true. Recently a long-time customer tried on a pair for the first time, coming out of the fitting room in disbelief. She was trying on RR’s Renee pant, which is a great straight leg that was long enough for her tall frame. I was a little smug when I said “I know we just changed your life.” They look great. They feel amazing. We’ve had customers turn their wardrobe of pants over to Raffaello Rossi pants completely. Let’s do a run through of the silhouettes we have at the moment, why we like them, and the different fabrications we have of each.
Just a reminder, each of these is pull on and washable. That goes without saying for the rest of this message. All styles are linked below.
Renee

This is my current favorite. In our product description we describe it as “Palina and Macy had a baby” (more on those two later). It has a thin band (about 1” wide) at the waist. Rise is not too high, flat front with welt pockets and a straight leg, full length with a pin tuck down the front. I can wear it easily with a loafer or a heel and our 5’6” + customer has generally responded well to its length. We have a lot of versions of it right now:
- Brown Geobonded - this fabric has an almost scuba-like feel and a slight sheen. This fabric runs a little bigger than the other fabrics
- Black Geobonded - same as above but black!
- Navy Textured Jersey - this is a personal favorite. I love this fabric, it has a different drape that is similar to a wool crepe and it’s great for year round. We’re bringing in a full size run of this fabric in black also b/c we’ve had a few requests for it.
- Burgundy Tech Flannel - not a traditional flannel, it's super soft. This burgundy is darker than the Elaine in burgundy we have. I’m wearing this color pant with my red kitten heels from Marion Parke and loving the irreverent mix of colors. Burgundy is a big color at the moment, so I’m wearing it a lot with all the other neutrals: oatmeal, black, grey etc. It still plays nicely with other colors and I love how it looks with blues and pinks.
- Navy Tech Flannel - in case you need to be more serious than the burgundy and you want the flannel
- Graphite Cosy Jersey - so I forgot I had this on order, and it arrived the other day and had a moment of total belief that looked like this: "wait, so the thanksgiving pant can get MORE comfortable to what we're used to?" It’s exactly what it says it is: cozy, jersey. It feels like sweatpants but looks like a real pair of pants. I mean, they are real pants, they just don’t feel like it. We’re wrapping up our Renee deliveries on a high note.
Elaine

Elaine has a slightly wider leg than the Renee but is not exaggerated by any means and we’ve found it to be a successful choice even for our tiny and very petite customers. It has no band at the waist - it’s even more clean at the waist but it runs a bit smaller than the Renee. Most people size up 1 size in this style. No pockets - that’s the price we pay for that clean silhouette at the hips. I’m wearing these to a luncheon with a heel soon. Most of our styles have a welt-seam down the front but the windowpane version does not. Here’s the different options available here:
- Asphalt Fluid Flannel - dark grey, this flannel from Raffaello Rossi has more drape than the tech flannel used for the Renee listed above.
- Burgundy Fluid Flannel - same fabric as above, a bit more berry-hued than the burgundy tech flannel
- Grey Graphical - another flannel with a camel windowpane weave to the fabric. This fabric is a bit more thick than the fluid flannel. Yummy and it looks super chic mixed with a brown knit or blazer.
Vika
We have one color of this as we’re testing the silhouette this year, and it’s a beautiful olive hue that is great for color-lovers. The waistline is like that of Elaine (a little higher than the Renee, smooth waistband) and no pockets again. The leg is a little wider and the length a little longer than that of Elaine, so we will go forward here because this is a great choice for the really tall gals. Here's the link to this style.
Resa
This is a legging-like faux leather style that we’ve had for years. It’s actually just as great for a tall gal as it is for a petite (we just shorten it easily for the vertically challenged ladies). I personally size up in this one so it’s not tight - that’s my personal preference, then I feel less self-conscious if my bum sticks out from under a blazer or the likes. Wear it however it makes you happy, though. Yes, it’s washable. Here's a link to this style.
Natina
Emma and I love this silhouette. It’s like a cross between the brand’s extremely popular jogger and a pair of trousers. It has a nice slim leg, belt loops with a zip pocket in the front and faux pockets in the back. The fabric has a birds-eye like texture to the fabric that lends an autumnal look while still being comfortable and versatile to wear in nearly all climates. Here's a link to this style.
Palina
This is our OG Thanksgiving Pant, the style that we’ve sold hundreds of and that taught us to set a new bar for what we expect from pants. It’s more of a mid rise, with a wider leg (like that of Elaine) and a welt pocket. We’ve had it so much that at this moment, we only have it in the black structured jersey, the same crepe-like fabric that is great for year-round. We stock the 6/8 length for a crop look all the time. We find that this looks great with a loafer or ballet flat or a sneaker. FYI, we can always order a full-length version and we can get it in navy and a winter white from Germany with a 2 week lead time. Here's a link to the product.
Macy
Macy is popular with the shorter gals. It’s designed to have a subtle kick flare. It has 1” wide waistband and is relatively fitted through the leg and meant to be slightly cropped. It has a welt seam down the full front and the back. We’ve just restocked the tech-cotton fabric in black and if it’s not online at this time, it will be soon. I personally love this for travel as it’s easy to wear with a sneaker or a heel and pairs nicely with a knit + blazer or a blouse + blazer that can be a part of my evenings out. Here's the link for the Macy.
There’s a lot to choose from, sometimes we sell through these styles are short on sizes, but otherwise there’s basically something that feels great and looks amazing for everyone to love.
