The Rabbits & the Elephant, Plaster, Large Ribbon
This collection from Sabina Savage is inspired by the Panchatantra, an ancient Indian collection of animal fables, written in Sanskrit verse and prose. In Sabina's interpretation, 3 princes (too young to read) find a tattered copy of the Panchatantra and leaf through the pages. The animals around their palace gather to enact the stories for the princes. 'The Rabbits & the Elephant' tells the story of a herd of elephants looking for water. When the envoy discovers lake on a clear night, thousands of rabbits gather to protest. The tell the elephants that the lake belongs to the moon. When the elephants step into the lake and see the ripples in the water, they believe the moon is angry and retreat.
